Roof terrace, Hove

An outdoor living room with a sea view.

A full balcony redesign in Hove — decking, bespoke furniture, screening and planting, designed and built by us over two weeks.

The decking is Millboard Weathered Oak in Embered, a composite board well suited to an exposed terrace — it keeps its looks without the maintenance of timber. The sofas and coffee table are solid oak, built by us to fit the space, with made-to-measure cushions. A louvered oak privacy screen runs along the back of the terrace. It screens the neighbouring houses while still letting light and air through.

The planting sits in fibre stone troughs: olive trees and griselinia for year-round structure, white agapanthus for summer, and a mix of ornamental grasses. The terrace looks out over the treetops towards the sea.
